Craftopia drops Xbox One, 1.0 targets 2027 on Xbox Series and PC
In brief
Craftopia will exit Early Access in 2027 on Xbox Series and PC, but the Xbox One version is being abandoned due to insurmountable performance issues. Pocketpair, buoyed by Palworld's success, is finally injecting massive resources into its original title and apologizing for sidelining the game in recent years.
Six years after its Early Access launch, Craftopia finally has a way out. Pocketpair has just confirmed that the game will leave early access in 2027, but at a cost: the Xbox One version has been purely and simply abandoned for performance reasons.
The studio, now much bigger and richer since Palworld's smash hit, explains that it has finally found the "technical breakthroughs" needed to stabilize the Xbox Series X|S version. But on Xbox One, despite years of effort, the result is still deemed unacceptable. Pocketpair even acknowledges its lack of experience at the time of launch, back in 2021, to justify these technical struggles that have been dragging on for years.

What's especially striking is the tone of the announcement. Pocketpair literally apologizes for giving the impression, after Palworld, of having neglected its first baby. A fairly rare mea culpa coming from a studio that could very well have let Craftopia fade into obscurity to focus on its golden goose.

Instead, the studio is announcing that it will inject additional resources into the game thanks to Palworld's success, with a 1.0 designed more as a massive polish than as a flood of brand-new content. An approach that stands in contrast to the usual content race typical of the survival-crafting genre, and one that could restore some credibility to a game that has long lived in the shadow of its bigger brother.
