In brief

Attack on Titan 3 will release on December 10 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC, with pre-orders opening immediately. The game promises to finally wrap up the saga's story with the Nine Titans playable for the first time, three editions on offer, and bonuses for returning fans.

Attack on Titan 3 will arrive on December 10 on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam). Koei Tecmo and Omega Force are also announcing the opening of pre-orders, with a clear pitch: closing the narrative loop opened since 2016. The game is presented as a compilation of the entire video game saga, from the beginning to the end of the story, enriched with new narrative developments and rebuilt iconic scenes. Big announced novelty: the Nine Titans will make their very first playable or fightable appearance in a game of the franchise.

Pre-orders are already open, except on Xbox Series and Switch 2 where they will arrive later. Three versions on the menu: the Standard Edition at €69.99, the SteelBook Launch Edition with a reversible ICONART print and bonus customization items, and the Digital Deluxe Edition at €89.99 which adds 72h of early access (excluding Switch 2), a digital artbook and an original equipment pack. Those who pre-order also get exclusive cosmetics, and owners of Attack on Titan 2 save files will get a special in-game gift.

Why it matters

Since Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle released in 2018, Omega Force's series had never really concluded its adaptation. The anime, meanwhile, ended a while ago, leaving the games permanently out of sync with the source material. This third installment thus arrives as an expected, almost overdue, conclusion for a franchise that had long been chasing its anime.

The gesture toward long-time fans also matters: owners of save files from previous installments will receive an in-game bonus, details to come. A nod that reminds us that Koei Tecmo is targeting above all those who have followed the saga from the start, more than new players. It remains to be seen whether the squad-based outside missions system, presented as the real gameplay novelty, will be enough to justify the wait.
