Palia: The 2026 Extraction Guide — All Deposits, Jadium, and Farming Amber Echo

In brief

The 2026 Extraction update in Palia revolves around one golden rule: smelting ores doubles their profitability. The Royal Highlands shook things up with Jadium and Amber Echo, while Sunstone only drops from those deposits. Mastering regional ore distribution and the purchase order at Hodari's turns farming into a true gold-making machine.

Extraction remains the most directly profitable skill in Palia: a large gold deposit in Bahari Bay drops up to 15 ore, and that 15 ore is worth 2,280 gold coins once smelted — compared to 1,125 if you sell it raw. The whole art of mining lies in this gap, and in knowing which deposit to break in which region.

Since the arrival of Kilima Valley... wait, of the Bahari Royal Highlands (patch 0.202) and the Sunkissed Summer season, the ore map has grown noticeably richer: Jadium and Amber Echo have reshuffled farming priorities, and a brand-new star stone, Sunstone, only drops from a single deposit type in the entire game. Here's the full state of play as of August 9, 2026.

A calendar note: Insect-a-Palooza returns from August 17 to 24, 2026, and some deposits spawn insects when broken. Mining this week means prepping for next week.

Where to mine what: the four regions

The ten deposit types aren't spread out randomly: each region has its own signature and a minimum pickaxe requirement, below which you just swing at nothing.

RegionDeposits presentPickaxe required
Kilima ValleyClay, Stone, Copper, SilverFlimsy Pickaxe is enough, except for large copper and silver deposits (Standard)
Bahari BayStone, Iron, GoldStandard for small and medium, Fine for large
SylvestreWhitestone, Palium, PlatinumFine for small and medium, Exquisite for large
Bahari Royal HighlandsWhitestone, Iron, Gold, JadiumStandard for iron and gold, Fine for Jadium, Exquisite for large Jadium deposits

The game keeps the English terms for several of these labels: Whitestone, Jadium, and Amber Echo have no confirmed localized equivalent from the publisher. That said, the game's interface does use Extraction, deposits, and bars.

Two field rules that are often overlooked: Bahari Bay's iron and gold sit near cliffs or at their tops as well as in the Pavel Mines, and clay only comes in one deposit size, found solely along the shores of Kilima Lake and Fisherman's Lagoon.

The golden rule: never sell raw ore

Every bar costs 5 ore. And in nearly every case, the bar is worth more than double the ore it consumes. This is the skill's single most important profitability lever, and it only requires a bit of patience.

Bar5 ore is worthThe bar is worthSmelting (Basic / Heavy)
Copper Bar20 gold31 gold3 min / 1 min 56
Iron Bar40 gold65 gold6 min / 3 min 53

The costly exception: the Whitestone Slab requires 2 Whitestone (16 gold each) for an item worth only 18. Craft it for your quests and buildings, never to resell. Stone Brick and Ceramic, on the other hand, remain profitable.

The Basic Smelter recipe can be bought for 50 gold from Hodari starting at level 2, and is crafted with 20 Stone, 6 Flint, and 3 Sernuk Hide. The Heavy Smelter arrives at level 5: a 1,000 gold recipe, crafted from a Basic Smelter, 25 Stone Bricks, 4 Iron Bars, and 5 Leather. It smelts noticeably faster while taking up just one crafting budget slot.

Kilima Valley: the Palium, Platinum, and Whitestone loop

This is the least-known mechanic of the skill, and the one that explains why so many players complain about no longer finding Palium: Palium, Platinum, and Whitestone deposits share the same spawn table. As long as you leave intact Whitestone and Platinum deposits lying around, no new Palium deposit can spawn in their place.

The consequence is direct: in Kilima Valley, you don't sort through deposits, you break everything, including the big Whitestone chunks nobody wants, then you make another round. A large Palium deposit yields 1 to 11 ore for 6 Exquisite pickaxe hits; a large Platinum deposit yields 5 to 6 ore — less generous in volume, but platinum is worth 175 gold per unit versus 12 for Palium.

The Ore Compass turns these back-and-forth trips into a set route: fifteen minutes of tracking, a recipe costing 2,500 gold at level 8. In Kilima Valley, it shows large Whitestone and Palium deposits, and platinum of all sizes; in Bahari Bay, large iron deposits and gold of all sizes. At level 10, it can be bought directly for 50 Extraction medals — far cheaper than crafting it.

Elderwood Highlands: Jadium, Amber, and Sunstone

The region introduced in patch 0.202 has its own currency, the Amber Echo, and mining is one of the most reliable sources of it. Stone, Whitestone, iron, gold, and Jadium deposits all yield some, but only when mined in Elderwood Highlands — the same deposit elsewhere gives nothing.

The real gain comes from deposits embedded in amber. A regular large Jadium deposit yields 6 to 9 Amber Echo; the same one encased in amber yields 12 to 16, nearly double. The crystal can be broken with a pickaxe, an axe, or a bow of any tier, but a Titan's Brew, a Royal Arrow, or an Amber Bomb open it in a single hit — the recipes for these last two items can be bought at the Amber Echo Store, for 200 and 1,800 Amber Echo respectively.

Second quirk: Jadium is the only deposit in the game that drops no classic star stone at all. In exchange, it's the only one that can give the Sunstone, introduced in patch 0.203. This gem is worth 900 gold (1,350 at star quality), but above all, it's loved by every villager — including Einar, Hekla, and Tau, who normally refuse star stones.

Seasonal bonus: a Jadium deposit can spawn a Jewelled Mantis, and those in Bahari Bay a Glimmering Centipede, from which Silk Thread is harvested. A good way to get ahead before Insect-a-Palooza.

The eleven star stones and where to find them

Each deposit family has its own list of gems. Knowing which one comes from where saves you from mining copper while hoping for a ruby.

The 3,500 gold ruby is the best passive income in the Sylvestre area, and it drops from the same deposits as amethyst: the Palium/Platinum loop pays off twice, in bars and in gems.

Hodari's shop: the purchase order that matters

The Extraction guild's shop unlocks its recipes as you level up, at very uneven prices: the order in which you buy them makes a real difference.

  • Level 2 — Basic Smelter recipe (50 gold), Copper Bar (25), Ceramic (25)
  • Level 3 — Standard pickaxe (200), Iron Bar (100)
  • Level 4 — Repair Station (500), Silver Bar (250)
  • Level 5 — Whitestone Slab (300), Heavy Smelter (1,000)
  • Level 6 — Fine pickaxe (1,500), Palium Bar (500)
  • Level 7 — Gold Bar (2,000), Jadium Bar (800)
  • Level 8 — ore compass (2,500)
  • Level 9 — Exquisite pickaxe (3,000)
  • Level 10 — Platinum Bar (5,000)

The absolute priority is the Fine pickaxe at level 6: without it, the major gold and iron deposits, as well as the entire Sylvestre area, remain closed to you. The Gold Bar recipe at 2,000 gold pays for itself after three bars; the Platinum Bar recipe at 5,000 gold does too, but it already requires an Exquisite pickaxe.

Starting at level 10, the shop accepts Extraction medals: Palium Bar for 10 medals, Silver Bar for 25, Gold Bar and ore compass for 50, the miner's plaque for 140. The miner's anvil (560) arrives at level 15, the curio display case (980) at level 20.

A hundred medals a week, and 380 Renown points

Starting at level 10, three weekly challenges are added, reset every Monday at 4:00 AM UTC: Pickaxe Pro (mine 20 deposits, 40 medals), Gold Rush (mine 10 rare ores, 30 medals), and Party Prospector (mine 5 deposits with other players, 30 medals). That's 100 medals a week, provided you don't forget the third one — which explicitly requires company.

Multiplayer remains underused: every player who hits the same deposit gets the full loot, and party members who stay nearby also receive loot from their teammates' actions, with a chance of double loot. Mining with a partner doesn't split the earnings.

On the achievements side, Extraction rewards 380 Renown points: 15 for Advanced Miner (level 10), 30 for level 25, 60 for level 50, 5 and 15 for your first silver and gold bars, 15 for “Every Mineral Is Mine,” 30 for “All the Stars in the Ground,” and 210 — by far the biggest chunk — for 2,000 nodes mined.

What to do this week

If you're starting from scratch, aim for the Fine Pickaxe above all else and fund it by smelting copper and iron. If you're already equipped with the Exquisite Pickaxe, your best hour of play is in Sylvestre: systematically clear Whitestone and Platinum to reset Palium, and keep the rubies. In the Royal Highlands, prioritize nodes trapped in amber and unlock the Royal Arrow at 200 Amber Echo.

And keep a stack of Sunstone on hand: one per villager per week is the most effective friendship shortcut in the game, and it only costs mining time.

What's your extraction priority now that the Royal Highlands are here?

Frequently asked questions

Which is more profitable to mine, iron or gold?
Gold: a large deposit yields up to 15 ores, which you sell raw for 1,125 gold or smelted for 2,280 gold. Iron earns 65 gold per bar versus 40 raw, which is less impressive. But Bahari Bay is packed with gold, so the grind pays off.
Why can't I find any more Palium at Sylvestre?
Because Palium, Platinum, and Whitestone deposits share the same spawn table. As long as you leave intact Whitestone or Platinum lying around, no new Palium will spawn. You need to break absolutely everything, even the big worthless Whitestone chunks, then make another pass.
Do you really need the Exquisite Pickaxe to mine in the Royal Highlands?
No, but you'll be limited. Fine is enough for standard Jadium, Exquisite for the large deposits. If you're targeting crystals embedded in amber and real quantities of Amber Echo, Exquisite at level 9 becomes essential.
What order should you follow to buy recipes from Hodari?
The Fine Pickaxe at level 6 first — it costs 1,500 gold but unlocks Sylvestre and the large deposits. Then the bars depending on your farming region. Gold Bar pays for itself in three bars, Platinum Bar too — be patient before investing in that.
Is Sunstone really better than an amethyst or a ruby?
It's different. Amethyst and ruby earn more raw (1,500 and 3,500 gold), but Sunstone charms every villager, even Einar or Tau who refuse regular star stones. It's up to you whether affection outweighs price.

Key takeaways

  • Always sell smelted, never raw: a bar is worth twice as much as its five combined ores.
  • At Sylvestre, break everything that moves — Whitestone, Platinum, and Palium share the same spawn table.
  • The Fine Pickaxe at level 6 from Hodari is an absolute priority: without it, Sylvestre and the large deposits stay out of reach.
  • Jadium deposits embedded in amber yield almost double the Amber Echo — targeting these variants makes all the difference.
  • Sunstone only drops from Jadium and delights every villager, even those who refuse regular star stones.
