NBA 2K27 MyGM: Best Free Agents to Sign
In brief
Russell Westbrook is the best free agent available in MyGM: a well-rounded bench point guard, fast when driving, and much cheaper than the stars. If you're building for the long term, Jaden Ivey is worth it; for immediate results, Westbrook is a must.
In MyGM mode in NBA 2K27, the goal isn't to win a season or two, but to build a franchise that lasts - all while keeping the Manager satisfied. Trades are particularly surprising this year, but a few excellent free agents can strengthen your roster. Here are the best ones.
Veterans who pay off immediately
The best player available is unquestionably Russell Westbrook. This point guard makes an ideal bench reinforcement: perfectly balanced on both offense and defense, as long as you don't count on him for 3-point shots. His Speed With Ball of 89, exceptional for his age, makes him a nightmare when driving (dunks and lay-ups) and a real threat in the paint. Bonus: he remains more affordable against the salary cap than most stars.

Russell Westbrook
On paper, DeMar DeRozan has a better overall rating, but he's not worth Westbrook: a better mid-range and close-range shooter, sure, but slower and much weaker on defense. Above all, his high salary often requires making trades to free up cap space, and he typically finds a team one or two days after the season tips off. So you need to act fast.
Third choice: Chris Paul. If you're looking for a reliable 3-point shooter, CP3 will accept the minimum salary - the best financial deal of the bunch. Don't expect a performance from his prime years, but he's an economical and balanced bench option.
Young players to develop
These veterans are close to retirement. To bet on the future, turn to Jaden Ivey, Cameron Thomas, and Jaden Hardy.

Jaden Ivey
Jaden Ivey is the most complete of the three: excellent close to the basket and at mid-range, decent from 3-point range, very fast with the ball, with good driving stats. Watch out though, his salary of around $14M can run into the salary cap. Cameron Thomas is more effective than Hardy in the paint and can improve his outside shot, while Jaden Hardy shines mostly from 3-point range and mid-range (but remains slow and limited on defense).
Who should you pick?
To build for the long term, Jaden Ivey is the smartest bet. For immediate results, Russell Westbrook is a must-have. And if your cap allows it, take both.
How to sign a free agent
Push the right stick up to open the GM menu, then go to Front Office → Contracts/MyStaff → Free Agents: the list will appear, sorted by overall rating. To free up cap space, trade your long-term contracts (3-4 years) for expiring contracts via the Trade Finder, or waive a player - keep in mind that his salary is only cleared once he signs elsewhere.
