In brief

Devolver Digital keeps its wild promise: Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed, a wacky 2D platformer from studio doinksoft, lands on Steam on November 19, 2026, the very same day as GTA 6. The publisher goes for provocation with a game presented as the "remaster of the original remake" of a title that never existed, a risky bet against Rockstar's juggernaut.

Devolver Digital had been saying for years that it would release a game on GTA 6's launch day. The publisher just made good on that promise: Volvy's Adventure: Reslimed, developed by doinksoft, will arrive on Steam on Thursday, November 19, 2026, the date set by Rockstar.

The studio came under the Devolver banner in 2023, following Gato Roboto, Demon Throttle, and Gunbrella. Reslimed is a 2D action platformer, single-player, PC only, priced at €4.99 with a 25% pre-order discount, bringing it down to €3.74 until launch. Interface and subtitles in fifteen languages, English and French included, with no voice acting at all.

A remaster of a game that never existed

The entire product page is a hoax. Volvy, the in-house mascot who first appeared in 2023 during the Devolver Direct, gets a whole backstory invented for him. The Steam page sells "a spectacular remaster of the original remake" of a platformer that never came out, while the publisher's press release calls it a "hit." Devolver also promises pixels redrawn by members of the original team "who are no longer incarcerated," along with mini-games that no longer encourage kids to smoke.

Behind the joke, there's real calculation at play. The publisher sees it as "a form of counter-programming that could work in Volvy's favor": GTA 6 isn't expected on Steam that day. The move stands out from the rest of the release calendar, where publishers tend to shift dates to avoid crossing paths with Rockstar.
