Kena: Scars of Kosmora announced without a date, PlayStation publishing

Ember Lab has announced Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. The studio, which came out of animation, had self-published its first game in 2021: it was both developer and publisher. This time, the publisher is PlayStation Publishing LLC. That change of status is the real headline of the announcement.

The PlayStation page reads “Announced” and “Release date to be determined.” No window, however wide, has been given. The game is listed there as a PS5 title, and a Steam page is already up, dated “Coming soon”: PC is therefore planned. For any other platform, nothing official to date.

Kena has become an “accomplished Spirit Guide” and travels to the island of Kosmora, seeking answers about her childhood affliction. PlayStation puts forward three pillars: “Evolving Spirit Companions”, “Face Kosmora’s threats” and “Explore a beautiful island full of secrets and danger”. The publisher talks about new Spirit Companions with elemental abilities, to be grown in order to solve puzzles, fight and traverse the island. Nothing is said about the fate of the Rot from the first game.

The previous one convinced without becoming a phenomenon: 83 on Metacritic in its PC version, which reached Steam on September 26, 2022, a year after consoles. The sequel’s Steam page already promises a full French dub alongside English. That leaves the only question that matters, and it has no answer: when.
