In brief

Focus Entertainment has taken over publishing of CLUTCH six months after Amazon Game Studios' departure. Maverick Games' open-world racing game is still scheduled for spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a first presentation planned at gamescom.

Six months after Amazon's withdrawal, CLUTCH has found a new publisher. Focus Entertainment announced on August 24 that it would take charge of publishing the debut game from Maverick Games. The British studio had been without a partner since February 2026, when Amazon Game Studios released it from the agreement signed in May 2024. It was revealed in June during this in-between period.

Nothing changes on the schedule front: CLUTCH is still expected in spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. This open-world driving game brings together professional racing and illegal street racing on the Côte d'Azur, between the R1K circuit and the nocturnal collective Midnight Collective, with an original story by Jamie Brittain, co-creator of the series Skins. Founded in late 2022 by Mike Brown, director of Forza Horizon 5, Maverick Games brings together around 140 people.

For Focus, this is a first. The French publisher, until now identified with A Plague Tale and Space Marine 2, had never worked on open-world racing before. It states its ambition to «make CLUTCH a major franchise in the genre».

Yet the deal had nothing shaky about it: the June reveal was so well received that Mike Brown posted a thank-you message on the official website. More is coming soon, as CLUTCH will be playable at gamescom from August 26 to 30. Neither a price nor a precise release date has been announced.
