The Return of the Ancients represents a decisive step for Path of Exile 2, with a major content update focused on the endgame. This patch introduces a new league and an overhaul of various progression systems. Among the notable additions, there is an endgame chapter that features multiple narrative arcs, high level fights and a structure designed to revitalize long-term farming.
This update also offers two new Ascendancies, for brand new build possibilities and fresh momentum injected into the meta. As part of the league, the campaign features the Runes of Aldur, an original mechanic that introduces an additional dimension of progression and rewards for the season.
Older systems are not left behind: the Breach and Ritual mechanics will receive major adjustments. In addition, several improvements will be made to make inventory management, content navigation and objective tracking smoother. Furthermore, this update comes with a wide range of balance changes, bug fixes, as well as changes concerning skills, items and the crafting economy, aimed at stabilizing the high-level gameplay experience.
