Black Ops 7 Season 5: what's really going to change for you

On July 23, Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone will drop (not just Normandy!). And the change generating the most buzz is the return of Frequency, the 6v6 map from Black Ops 4, small, dense, and built for close-quarters combat.

What changes on the gameplay side

For the average player, Frequency is good news. Small map = less downtime, more direct confrontations. No large open space to cross under fire - it's the kind of terrain that suits SMGs and shotguns perfectly.

The Season 5 artwork shows Spectre with dual SMGs and a second operator with an LMG, which hints at two new weapons in the DLC pack.

For competitive players, the arrival of a new Ranked Play cycle is worth keeping an eye on. A new meta takes shape at the start of every season, and Frequency, with its narrow corridors, could shake things up if it makes it into the ranked rotation.

Zombies: the end is near

The last Zombies map of the Black Ops 7 arc is coming, but not right away - it's expected with the mid-season Reloaded update, likely at the end of August. Treyarch clarified that this doesn't definitively close the door on the mode, but that future maps would be more modest: survival or starting room maps based on existing ones.

Warzone and reception

On the Warzone side, details remain vague. The artwork teases a sky filled with drones carrying crates - special killstreak or limited-time event, hard to say for sure.
