In brief

Update 1.4.1.0 arrives on July 21 with Season 4 Pacific Front, finally bringing naval combat to Battlefield 6 with a dynamic wave system, a new Tsuru Reef map, two amphibious vehicles, and three brand-new weapons. This is the biggest update since launch, with major competitive adjustments and critical bug fixes.

On July 21 at 10am (in France), Battlefield 6 will move into its Season 4: Pacific Front. And it's clearly the most ambitious update since launch. The big piece: naval combat, finally integrated, with a dynamic wave system that affects movement, lines of sight and the flow of engagements.

What's really changing on the ground

The new map Tsuru Reef is the ideal setting to test all this - a Pacific archipelago where the three dimensions (land, sea, air) coexist. Two vehicles arrive for the occasion: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat (two-seater, armored, designed for area control) and the 7.7m NSW RHIB (four-seater, fast, fitted with a machine gun), already known to REDSEC players.

On the arsenal side, three new weapons: the BROD 3 (aggressive carbine for close range), the EF88 (bullpup assault rifle for mid-long range) and above all the VSSM, a semi-auto DMR capable of being suppressed in full-auto - on paper, it looks pretty classy.

For competitive players

In Ranked Battle Royale, MBTs, IFVs and vehicle Keycards are removed. The M320A1 gets a hefty nerf on its level 2 and 3 traits - less ammo, fewer submunitions, reduced blast radii. A logical decision, as the grenade launcher was dealing highly questionable area damage in ranked.

Notable bugs fixed

Drag and revive in water is finally functional. Bullets now lose power underwater (realistic ballistic behavior, at last). And bots know how to swim - which may seem trivial, but it's essential for PvE modes to remain consistent with the new aquatic maps.

Community reception remains to be confirmed once it goes live, but on paper, it's the densest update of Season 4 - with a real risk that the VSSM ends up nerfed within two weeks.

Frequently asked questions

When exactly will update 1.4.1.0 be available?
On July 21 at 10am in France (4am ET according to the English source). Season 4 Pacific Front officially begins a few hours later.
What actually changes in gameplay with naval combat?
Dynamic waves affect movement, sightlines, and the flow of engagements. Bullets lose power underwater (realistic ballistic behavior at last), and drag-and-revive in water now works properly.
What new vehicles arrive with Tsuru Reef?
The RCB-90 Patrol Boat (two-seater, armored, area control) and the 7.7m NSW RHIB (four-seater, fast, mounted machine gun).
Why does the M320A1 get such an aggressive nerf in Ranked?
The grenade launcher dealt questionable splash damage in Ranked. The nerf reduces its ammo, its submunitions, and its blast radii — a logical decision for competitive balance.
Will bots be a problem with the arrival of naval combat?
No, bots can swim now. This is essential for PvE modes to remain consistent with the new aquatic maps.

Key takeaways

  • Integrated naval combat with dynamic waves radically changes the flow of fights and attack angles
  • Tsuru Reef, the new Pacific archipelago, exploits all three dimensions (land, sea, air) simultaneously
  • The overpowered semi-auto VSSM risks an express nerf soon, as it looks OP on paper
  • In Ranked, the M320A1 takes a severe nerf — less ammo, less splash damage, well deserved
