Two days before its beta opens, Activision has released the official multiplayer trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A short video, which mainly serves to lay out the numbers: 12 brand-new 6v6 maps, a modular terrain dubbed Kill Block, and the return of the large-scale Ground War mode.

What the video shows

The edit runs through shots of the new maps, with a strong emphasis on Apex Attachments, the new tier of weapon attachments, the workings of which Activision has yet to detail. Killstreaks flash by, ending with the nuke — a series classic that the marketing campaign hadn't brought back until now.

Kill Block is the real curiosity: presented as a modular battleground, it's supposed to reconfigure itself from one match to the next rather than offer a fixed layout. The trailer only shows a few seconds of it and doesn't explain how it works.

Where things stand

The previous trailer, "Meet the New Squad," focused on the characters and the joint US-South Korean forces in the campaign. This one is all about multiplayer, and the timing is no coincidence: the early access beta kicks off on August 21 for digital pre-orders on PS5, ahead of an open beta for everyone on August 28. The twelve 6v6 maps and Kill Block will be playable there.

Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
