Ananta gets a January 15, 2027 release date in its gamescom trailer

NetEase Games has put a date on Ananta: Friday, January 15, 2027, for its worldwide launch. The studio announced it on August 25 with a three-minute trailer published on the game's official channel during gamescom, already viewed more than eight million times.

What the video highlights

The breakdown of the world, first. Naked Rain Studio sets its story between Nova City and Lingyun, the city of the Chongxiao region: two distinct urban settings, not a single metropolis. Then the team: you don't follow a single protagonist but a group you assemble, switching between members.

The rest comes down to atmosphere. The studio talks about "different social conditions" and the way of life specific to each city — an everyday angle, far removed from the fantastical elements expected from a free-to-play title of this scale. The paranormal component of the original pitch remains largely out of frame.

Where things stood before

The game was called Project Mugen until last year, and its reputation rested on its acrobatic movement through the city. The studio is now emphasizing a point nobody expected from NetEase: characters are not obtained through random draws.
