In brief

Grit Games, the Lyon-based studio in charge of the WRC licence, filmed itself at PH Sport to capture the technical essence of rallying. NACON released an exclusive mini-documentary showing laser scans of cars and sound recordings, confirming a release in late 2027 under the title WRC – The Official Game.

NACON devoted a segment of its News From The Pits conference on Friday, August 21, 2026 to the future of the WRC license. No gameplay trailer: a mini-documentary, broadcast exclusively during the show.

The teams at Grit Games, the Lyon-based studio dedicated to the license and set up by former KT Racing staff, went to PH Sport, a rally preparation outfit based in Langres with seven world championship titles since the early 2000s under its belt. NACON sums up the visit in two lines: car scans and sound recordings. Traxion spotted a Lancia Ypsilon HF Integrale Rally2 undergoing laser scanning and a Citroën C3 Rally2 set up for sound capture.

This is the studio's second media appearance, after a May 2026 video shot at the Monte-Carlo Rally and titled WRC 2027 — that one showed production work, more than location scouting.

So this is a technical credibility teaser, not a game teaser. NACON only drops two clues, and they fit within the description of its replay: the title is referred to under the label WRC – The Official Game, with no published French equivalent, and it's expected by late 2027. No date, no platforms. The mini-documentary will be released as a separate video
