Stranded Deep 2: Release Date, First Images and Details
In brief
Stranded Deep 2 finally reveals its face two years after its quiet announcement. North Beach Games confirms an early access release on Steam with a new desert world crossed by an endless river, where survival hinges on building a floating home and avoiding hostile wildlife.
Stranded Deep 2 finally has images to show. Two years after its quiet announcement in August 2024, North Beach Games lifts the veil on its survival sandbox and confirms an early access release on PC via Steam.
The game leaves behind the tropical islands of the first episode for a desert crossed by an endless river, between canyons, dunes and valleys. Still led by Sam Edwards, co-creator of the first Stranded Deep who has become creative director, the project is developed by North Beach Games Prague. The trailer and first screenshots set the tone: kayaking on rapids, a floating base that can be dismantled and moved, wildlife following a real food chain in which the player is clearly not at the top. For details on the mechanics and the trailer's sequences, head to our dedicated article.

This matters because the first Stranded Deep took years to leave its own early access (2015 to 2022) before finding its audience on the promise of a demanding survival experience, without guided quests, where the map changes every playthrough. This sequel keeps the same procedural philosophy but adds a content editor, the Cartographer, to create and share zones with the community across all platforms.

North Beach Games says it wants to evolve the game over time, with regular updates bringing biomes, creatures and craftable items. A familiar bet for the genre, but one that only makes sense if early access delivers on its promises right from launch. No precise date has been announced yet.
