Konami is finally coming up for air on Rev. NOiR. The new RPG from ILCA gets an official release window: 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam. No exact date yet, but at least a clear trajectory for a project that had remained low-key until now.

The game follows Asch, a boy guided by an “astral ordinance” pushing him to “save many people,” and Finé, a young cleric bearing the Rainbow Astria, meant to put an end to the Lightfall, a phenomenon that brings death wherever it goes. Their path crosses that of Diana, a guard of the Astrian Order, and Kross, a gunner recruited as a guide. The group sets off to fight the provitons, presumed sources of the cataclysm. On paper, Rev. NOiR looks like a classic RPG in structure: a messianic quest, a group of heroes with intertwined motivations, a cosmic mystery in the background. But the pedigree behind the project is more intriguing. ILCA, the studio in charge, made its name through remakes and ports rather than original creations - which makes this Rev. NOiR all the more interesting to watch in order to gauge their own narrative ambitions.

Konami, for its part, has been ramping up announcements in recent weeks, between this RPG and the recent Rhapsody in Scarlet. A sign that the publisher is seriously betting on a strong comeback in AA narrative games, beyond just its historic franchises.
