In brief

Atlus has officially confirmed that there will be no romance option with Yosuke in Persona 4 Revival. Producer Kazuhisa Wada explains that the absence comes down to resources: adding this route for Yosuke would have meant redoing the same work for every male character, which the studio couldn't take on.

There won't be a romance with Yosuke in Persona 4 Revival. Kazuhisa Wada, producer of the remake, settled the question at gamescom 2026 in an interview with GamesRadar+, and his reasoning has nothing to do with the character.

The argument

"I was aware that some people were talking about it online, like 'oh, Yosuke,' and hoping for that," Wada admits. "But we felt that if we did Yosuke, we'd have to do it for all the other male characters too. And doing that is a lot of work." Then comes the scheduling argument: the studio wasn't sure it could take that on, so "we decided to let Yosuke pass."

The request didn't come out of nowhere. Unused audio files from the original Persona 4 suggest that a romantic route with Yosuke was written and then cut. Eighteen years later, part of the community was hoping the remake would restore it.

What's changing anyway

Atlus isn't leaving Yosuke untouched, though: several of his scenes and lines have been rewritten to be "a bit more in line with the world we live in now." The English voice cast has also been completely redone, a choice that's already proving divisive.

Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
