In brief

Marvel's Venom isn't cancelled. A reliable leaker claims that Insomniac's spin-off remains in active development, contrary to abandonment rumors circulating since 2025 passed without an official announcement.

Marvel's Venom would not be dead. According to a new leak, Insomniac Games' spin-off centered on the symbiote would still be in development, despite months of rumors announcing its outright cancellation.

The project would have been spotted for the first time in the massive data leak that hit Insomniac in 2023, alongside Marvel's Wolverine. The roadmap that leaked at the time placed its release in 2025. With that date having passed without the slightest official announcement, many had concluded it was cancelled, a view reinforced in April by comments from Nadji Jeter (voice of Miles Morales) evoking a halt to the project following the death of Venom's actor, Tony Todd. This last point had however been denied by journalist Jason Schreier of Bloomberg.

A source to be taken with the usual grain of salt

The information this time comes from NateTheHate, a leaker regularly cited within the PlayStation ecosystem and generally considered reliable by the community, without however being an employee or an official partner of Insomniac or Sony. He gave no release window nor content details.

No official statement exists at this stage, either to confirm or deny the project. The studio's busy schedule, with Marvel's Wolverine releasing this month, probably explains the silence. A possible slip to 2027, between Wolverine and Spider-Man 3, would remain consistent with the bridging role that Miles Morales had played in his time. To be taken conditionally, then, until proven otherwise...
