In brief

According to Tom Warren of The Verge, the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 would not be released in 2026. The journalist doesn't mention a cancellation, but rather a schedule shift — Microsoft and Playground Games have not officially confirmed anything at this time.

Since August 27, a claim has been circulating: the PlayStation 5 version of Forza Horizon 6 wouldn't release in 2026. It comes from Tom Warren, senior journalist at The Verge, not a Microsoft press release.

On the morning of the 27th, video creator Colt Eastwood suggested on X that Playground Games was quietly pushing the port back to 2027. Warren quoted this message and replied that he doesn't expect to see the game on PS5 in 2026. He wrote neither "delay" nor "2027": that nuance has disappeared from many of the reposts.

About forty minutes later, a reader asked him if the PS5 version was still happening. His answer: "it's definitely still releasing". The port wouldn't be canceled, then, just absent from the remaining calendar.

What the information is worth

Warren has covered Microsoft for years at The Verge, and his track record is verifiable: on January 14, he wrote that he had a May release date for Forza Horizon 6; on January 22, Microsoft officially confirmed May 19 on Xbox Series and PC. Not an anonymous account, then, and that's what makes the information publishable on our end. IGN France states it has confirmed the same thing independently, and says it reached out to Microsoft without receiving a published response.

What hasn't been established: neither Microsoft nor Playground Games have announced a delay. The only public commitment remains the one made during the January 22 Developer_Direct, a PS5 release "later this year". The game's official listing on PlayStation.com still shows "Release date to be announced".
