The Tools You Need to Gather to Create a Map

Before you can create your map, you first need to gather a few essential tools. Here are the two main items to collect:

Crafting Table

  • Materials to gather: 6 pieces of wood, which you can obtain by chopping down trees with your axe.
  • Crafting: Once you've gathered the materials, open the quick crafting menu with the F key and select the Crafting Table. 

Research Table 

  • Materials to gather: you need 8 pieces of wood and 1 piece of cloth. Cloth can be crafted from cotton.
  • Crafting: Go to the Crafting Table, then in the utilities tab, craft the Research Table. 

Upgrade the Research Table

You need to upgrade it to level 2: to do this, you must complete all level 1 research projects, after which you'll be able to unlock the map research.

Crafting and Using the Map 

To research the map, you'll need 2 pieces of cloth, and it will automatically appear in your inventory once the research is complete.

Then press the M key to open the map. You'll be able to view a considerable expanse of water representing the multiple islands. Using the left mouse click, you can move around the map to explore the surrounding areas, as well as use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
