Oddman Borderlands 4: Should You Shoot Him or Punch Him

Players in Borderlands 4 are faced with a moral dilemma during the side mission "Exit Through the Rift Shop". Indeed, after discovering an ECHO log mentioning Francis Oddman and his search for a supposed paradise far from Kairos, the Vault Hunters instinctively head towards Deep Seven, an Order of the Stage silo in Fadefields. You will then have an important choice to make: either you punch Francis Oddman, or you shoot him.

The consequences of your choice

Once you exit the dimensional rift, you find yourself face to face with Francis Oddman, and the truth comes to light. This Order scientist used innocent people from Kairos, teleporting them into different dimensional rifts, as test subjects to try to find an ideal paradise that he personally imagines with his delusions of grandeur. This so-called paradise would unfortunately be a world of sentient lizards, nothing particularly exciting after all!

Here then are the two choices available to you:

• Punch Francis Oddman. By attacking him, Oddman is thrown into a dimensional rift that makes him disappear. His future is left hanging, leaving a possible return under the spotlight.
• Shoot Francis Oddman. By gunning him down, Oddman dies on the spot without the rift taking him.

Tip

On a moral level of course, eliminating Oddman could be the fairer solution given his extremely serious crimes, but otherwise it remains much more strategic to choose the non-lethal solution. Indeed, a "Rift Incompatible" trophy can be unlocked depending on the outcome of Oddman's fate. So to earn this reward, you have to choose to punch him, which subsequently allows for his expulsion into the dimensional rift.
