Oblivion Remastered Tip: How to Sprint
In brief
Oblivion Remastered introduces sprinting as a major new feature. Find out how to use this mechanic, optimize your Fatigue and attributes to move quickly across Cyrodiil, and dominate your fights.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered adds several significant elements compared to the original game, particularly the ability to sprint. While this is the main addition of this version, it remains to be discovered how this new feature changes players' ability to travel long distances across Cyrodiil. Let's take a look, together, at this new mechanic and how to make the most of it for an optimized gaming experience.
The basics of sprinting in Oblivion Remastered
The ability to sprint represents one of the major novelties of Oblivion Remastered. Unlike the original, in which players simply walked or ran at a constant speed, this version has adjusted things to allow for sprinting. This system is particularly useful for fleeing dangerous enemies, keeping distance and increasing effectiveness during ranged combat, or even for evading a crime (by heading to Lake Rumare). To sprint, you need to hold down:
- On Xbox: the left joystick
- On PlayStation: the left joystick
- On PC: left Shift (it can be customized in the options)
Note
Sprinting is not a toggle function, so you need to make sure to keep the button held down to keep sprinting. PC players can also use the Caps Lock key to switch between walking and normal running.
This command also allows you to gallop on your mount, a useful function for traveling on horseback in the game.

Optimizing stamina to sprint longer
Sprinting in Oblivion Remastered consumes Fatigue (or stamina), which naturally limits the distance you can travel at full speed. To maximize your sprinting abilities, you'll therefore need to maximize your maximum Fatigue pool, as well as its regeneration rate. Max Fatigue is determined almost exclusively by the Willpower attribute, with only minor effects from Agility. As for Fatigue regeneration, it responds entirely to the Agility attribute. Remember to invest in these two attributes when leveling up to improve your sprinting.
Note
Be careful not to use up your entire Fatigue bar during combat, because if you take a hit in this state, you'll fall to the ground for a few seconds, leaving you completely vulnerable.

Developing the Athletics skill
The Athletics skill actually plays a key role in improving your sprinting abilities. By leveling up this skill, you'll gain a number of stackable benefits across several stages:
- At the first level: increasingly faster Fatigue recovery while running
- At level 50: Fatigue consumed while sprinting is reduced
- At level 100: sprinting no longer consumes any Fatigue at all
To improve your Athletics, regularly engage in sprinting, running, and swimming. In fact, it's this last activity that remains the most recommended for gaining levels in this skill at a faster pace.
Tip
If you want to start the game with a small bonus in this area, choose a class whose main skills include Athletics. This will allow you to have a higher level in this skill right from the start.

Increasing your movement speed
When it comes to movement speed in Oblivion Remastered, the ability to sprint is not the only factor to consider. The Speed attribute is the attribute that influences how fast you walk, run, sprint, or swim. You can boost this attribute by leveling it up when you gain levels.
Note
At the start of the game, you'll choose a birthsign that can have a major influence. The sign of The Steed increases Speed by 20 points, while the sign of The Thief boosts it by 10 points. Remember that you can only choose one sign when creating your character.
Finally, exploring for or purchasing potions that temporarily increase your speed or restore your Fatigue will add to these permanent methods. Spells offering the same functions can also be acquired and used as needed.
This interplay between the different ways of increasing your attributes or learning certain skills will allow you to travel efficiently across the vast world of Oblivion Remastered, making your gaming experience smoother and more enjoyable.
