Where to buy a map

To get a map in Gothic 1 Remake, there are two sellers. The first is Graham, a man who is often found next to the main entrance of the Old Camp. He sells two maps, a colony map and a camp map. The second, Mordrag, is a merchant from the New Camp who trades various useful items between the two camps. His location is less predictable, but he stays at the edge of the market area during the day.

Colony map:

• Graham: 34 gold nuggets
• Mordrag: 28 gold nuggets

If you come across Mordrag, it's worth buying the colony map from him for a few nuggets less. On the other hand, Graham is the only one who has the camp map, which costs 35 gold nuggets.

The price of the map might seem expensive if you start the Old Camp without any financial resources. It is generally advisable to wait a bit before buying a map at the beginning of the adventure, since it only shows the location of your current position and allows more useful markers to be displayed later on. In the early moments of the game, it's better to explore without a map and gradually learn the layout of the colony.
