In Code Vein 2, boss fights are a great way to test players' abilities, as in any respectable soulslike. The fight against Franz the Demoralized Assailant is particularly difficult and intense. This guide will advise you on the best way to approach this fearsome opponent.

Strategies for defeating Franz

Phase 1: Basic attacks

Franz starts the fight by delivering a few melee blows, namely several attacks that allow him to land his most fearsome three-hit combo. Here's how to get through this phase:

Dodging and timing: you need to learn to dodge his blows, the first two are fast but the last one is slower due to the scale of the movement, this is the moment to master the dodge.

Using parry: if you have the Rebel Armband, you can use parry.

Phase 2: Franz transforms

Franz now has 70% of his health remaining when he enters a new phase, in which he starts striking with his head, which will somewhat change the dynamic of the fight.

During this phase, Franz can also unleash ranged attacks, including a purple beam. To deal with this:

Stay mobile: don't hesitate to move laterally to dodge his projectiles;

Take advantage of openings: when Franz uses his ranged attacks, he can become vulnerable himself. At that moment, you need to take the opportunity to deal heavy damage to him.

Phase 3: Area attacks

Franz can also launch into area attacks where he concentrates his attack potential on a delimited zone. To get through this, here are a few (good) practices to implement:

Stay close to him: If you stay close enough to him while he executes his attack, it will be possible to hit him several times before the animation ends.

Anticipation: Learn to spot the moment when he prepares his area attacks, which allows you to reposition quickly.
