Forza Horizon 6: Soft Landing challenge guide
In brief
Forza Horizon 6's "Crash Landing" challenge is stumping players because of a misleading translation. Contrary to what the name suggests, you don't need to land cleanly after a jump—you need to hit an object or surface (a slope, barrier, or pallet) at the moment of impact. Here's how to nail both required skills without the hassle.
The Festival Playlist resets every Thursday - and this week, the spring season puts the Ariel Nomad in the spotlight. The weekly challenge is split into three objectives. The first two are wrapped up in a few minutes. The third, "Soft Landing," can trip up even series veterans because of a misleading translation that has been carried over from previous entries...
The translation issue you need to know about first
"Soft Landing" corresponds to the English feat Crash Landing. The French name suggests you need to land the car cleanly after a jump. It's actually the opposite. What the game really wants: landing on an object or surface after a jump, not in open space. Hitting a barrier, a mound, a pallet, any piece of scenery on impact - that's what triggers the skill. It has never been fixed. Arm yourself with this info and the challenge becomes trivial.
Challenge #1: Own and drive the Ariel Nomad
If you don't already have the Ariel Nomad in your garage, head to the car showroom. It costs around 50,000 credits. Buy it, get behind the wheel, and the first objective is ticked off. Nothing more to it.

Challenge #2: 6 stars in Megatrails
Open the map and filter the activities. Uncheck everything, then check only Megatrails to display just these events. You need to collect 6 stars in total across these challenges. Important point: you can replay the same event multiple times, even if its stars have already been earned - they still count toward the total. Two runs on the same Megatrail and you're already halfway there.
Challenge #3: 2 Crash Landing skills
This is where things get tricky if you don't know where to go. The recommended area: the hangar southeast of Tokyo, in the middle of the zone. Here's the sequence:
- Spot a launch ramp inside the hangar.
- Follow the path to the right after the ramp.
- Keep going until you can't climb any further - you'll notice a grassy mound with fences nearby.
- Build up speed, jump, and aim for the mound below to land on it.
- It's the contact with the mound after the jump that validates the challenge. Not a flat landing.
Once the first skill triggers, use rewind to go back a few seconds and redo the jump from the same spot. Two Soft Landings in a row, and the challenge is complete.

Community tip
If the hangar area doesn't suit you, other spots work too. Players notably point to the highway ramps under construction, where pallets and small bumps are scattered right after the natural ramps in the scenery.
" You just need to do a little jump and land on something! Jump and crash into a barrier or whatever... You can go to the highway ramp, where there's construction, with little bumps and pallets right behind it." - Anonymous player, jeuxvideo.com forum
The principle stays the same everywhere: jump + impact on a piece of scenery = Soft Landing. Pick whichever spot is most accessible to you on the map.

Key takeaways
- "Atterrissage en douceur" = Crash Landing in English: you need to hit a piece of scenery during the jump, not gently set the car down.
- The hangar in southeast Tokyo offers the most reliable spot, with a perfect grass slope to trigger the skill.
- Use rewind after each impact to restart the jump from the same point and quickly rack up both skills.
- The highway ramps under construction are a viable alternative, with well-placed pallets and bumps to nail the trick.
