Crimson Desert Mountain Spirit Boar: How to Find and Defeat It
In brief
The Mountain Spirit Boar is a legendary boss in Crimson Desert to discover north of Pailune after Chapter 7. To face it, you must chop down trees to make it appear, then fight it by dodging its fearsome attacks while positioning yourself strategically to maximize your damage.
The Mountain Spirit Boar is a newly introduced legendary boss in Crimson Desert, and it's a formidable opponent. Let's see how to find it and take it down.
Locating the Mountain Spirit Boar
First, you need to head to the north of Pailune, but only after completing chapter 7, as the poster associated with this boss only appears once the town has been liberated. Once you're in the region's capital, look on a bulletin board or a post for the poster titled "Witness Report: Woodcutter".
Note
This poster can be found on different bulletin boards around town, it doesn't have a fixed spawn, so you should check every nook and cranny until you find the one featuring the Mountain Spirit Boar.
Reading the poster, you'll learn that this boar attacks villagers who are clearing the surrounding forests. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to chop down a certain number of trees in Pailune, in the Northern forests near the town's northern section, or in the Odeck village region, further south.
Several methods are available to you, from using explosive arrows (especially if you have infinite arrows) which can destroy a number of trees, to the traditional axe. In the latter case, however, you'll need to be patient, as you generally need to chop down 10 to 15 trees for the Mountain Spirit Boar to appear.

Fighting the Mountain Spirit Boar
When the Mountain Spirit Boar arrives, it's accompanied by smaller versions of itself. The difficulty of the fight can vary depending on its location, which is impossible to determine in advance since there's no specific area for this boss. You could find yourself stuck between rocks or trees, which would considerably complicate the battle. So be smart about where you choose to chop down trees!
Tip
If you start in a spot close to a road, Pailune NPCs may possibly come to help you right away: we saw town soldiers step in during the fight against this boss, and you know what? As expected, it makes things easier!
The Mountain Spirit Boar has several attacks, including a charge with its tusks, shockwave zones when it strikes the ground with its front legs, and above all, fan-shaped rock throws. The most fearsome attacks are the ones where it hurls numerous roots or rocks, as they deal heavy damage and can knock you down.

When the Boar starts burying its tusks in the ground, get ready to dodge because it's about to throw rocks. Same thing when it rears up on its hind legs to perform a root attack. In both cases, you need to back away or sidestep as quickly as possible.
Positioning yourself behind the Mountain Spirit Boar is generally the best choice, as it lets you avoid a good number of its attacks while still allowing you to strike. Aside from a paw swipe that causes an area effect, this is often the best position.
Certain skills (including fire-based ones) deal good damage to the enemy and quickly fill its stun gauge. This allows you to stun it and attack freely for a few seconds. Explosive arrows are also a smart choice, as they deal damage not only to the Boar but also to the small creatures accompanying it.

Rewards
At the end of the fight against the Mountain Spirit Boar, you'll walk away with several pieces of perfect wood, a rare material used to upgrade certain equipment, notably bows. However, there's no unique weapon, jewelry, or armor on offer; only the glory of having defeated this formidable opponent will remain!
