Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch and PC

The Warrior Cats franchise is heading into tactical RPG territory. Trailmark Games and studio Bamtang Games have unveiled Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, a video game adaptation of the cult literary saga that has amassed dozens of volumes selling millions of copies since the 2000s. For a community of readers loyal for two decades, but historically overlooked when it comes to video games, the announcement is bound to make waves.

The game is planned for this fall on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). Players take on the role of a kit who chooses their Clan - ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan or WindClan - before climbing the ranks through a campaign dedicated to each faction, complete with its own lore and rivalries. Turn-based combat, in-depth fur and appearance customization, den management, exploration of the saga's iconic territories: the formula promises a genuine faithfulness to the world of the novels, right down to asynchronous visits to other players.

No official reaction from fans has surfaced yet since the announcement, but the ground is fertile: few games have ever seriously attempted to adapt the Clans' complex mythology.
