In brief

The Alighieri Circle transposes the Divine Comedy into a first-person psychological survival game. The Roman studio ONE O ONE GAMES offers a plunge into Dante's Inferno on September 10th on PC, current-gen consoles and Switch 2, where players must perform an ancestral ritual to close the gates of the infernal world.

The Roman studio ONE O ONE GAMES, known for The Suicide of Rachel Foster, returns to the psychological thriller. The Alighieri Circle: Dante's Bloodline launches on September 10 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a Switch 2 version coming "later in the year". Spanish publisher Entalto Publishing is backing the project.

The Divine Comedy taken at face value

The pitch: every thirty-three years, the boundary between our world and Hell fades away. Gabriele Alighieri must return to the family home and carry out "the Ritual" to close the gates again. The game alternates between two realities — the Italian villa, silent and melancholic, and "The Dive", its infernal reflection, the publisher having not yet released an official French label — with esoteric puzzles built on the poem's lost pages.

"We chose the kind of terror we wanted: not the fear of dying, but the fear of being seen," explains game director Gaia Righelli. Creative director Emanuele Miccianza, for his part, emphasizes an intimate reading of the text: "When I read the Divine Comedy, I didn't see an action story, I saw someone going through an inner journey."

Price and availability

The game is announced at €19.50, with a 10% discount during the first two weeks. Eleven languages are planned, including French text; voice acting remains in English and Italian. A demo is already available on Steam to test the atmosphere before deciding.
