Legendary X-Ray Spirit Fortnite: how to get it

The X-Ray Spirit has landed on the Fortnite island with Chapter 7 Season 4, and like all Legendary Spirits, it doesn't come easy. No fixed spot, no guaranteed method: you'll need to loot smartly and rely on a minimum of luck. Here are all the known leads to get your hands on it.

Cheat Codes, your best option

If you need to prioritize a single method, this is the one. Entering a Cheat Code guarantees a Spirit as a reward, unlike all other loot sources which only give you a chance.

But be careful, not all Cheat Codes are equal. Blue spots have very little chance of dropping a Legendary Spirit like the X-Ray. Focus on purple Cheat Codes or higher rarity: that's where your odds really go up.

Shiny blue chests

Second solid option: shiny blue chests. You can find them pretty much anywhere on the map with regular loot, but they're much more frequent in boosted-loot POIs, the ones marked with shiny blue letters on the map each round.

If you drop near one of these POIs, it's clearly worth the detour before worrying about anything else.

Golden fishing

Golden fishing spots generally offer better loot, X-Ray Spirit included. The catch is that they're pretty rare under normal circumstances.

That said, a special Match Override can turn all fishing spots in the match into golden spots. If that pops in your game, rush to fish as much as you can: it's one of the best times to farm the Spirit.

Random loot, as a last resort

Technically, this Spirit can appear in any container, anywhere on the island. In other words, if you don't have access to the methods above, your only option is to loot as much as possible and cross your fingers. Keep your eyes open at all times, even with basic loot.

No guaranteed spawn for now

Unlike some Spirits that have a fixed spawn point or a certain method of obtaining them, the X-Ray Spirit doesn't have one right now. This could obviously change with a future update, but as things stand, it's pure loot lottery.

What does the X-Ray Spirit do?

Once in your pocket, the X-Ray Spirit periodically marks enemies around you. The way it works is very reminiscent of Support Specialists: if you've already used one in a match, you know exactly what to expect in terms of enemy detection. A real plus for anticipating rotations and avoiding bad surprises late in the match.
