Halloween: The Game - the full weapon tier list

Follow us on

When Michael Myers is stalking you in Haddonfield, there's no time to debate the finer points of each weapon: you need something to put distance between you and the Shape, preferably before becoming one more victim. Halloween: The Game offers a handful of melee weapons and firearms, and some are far more useful than others. Here's our tier ranking, based on their effectiveness in-game.

How to read the ranking

  • S Tier: the best weapons, to grab as a priority.
  • A Tier: excellent and very effective, with a few flaws compared to S Tier.
  • B Tier: reliable and safe, but nothing exceptional.
  • C Tier: they'll do the job, but with notable weaknesses - to be used if nothing better is available.

The weapon ranking

Tier Weapon In short
S Shotgun Excellent stopping power: ideal for getting some breathing room when Michael is right on you
S Axe The benchmark for melee weapons; you have to get close, but the risk is worth it (and it breaks down doors if you're playing as Michael)
S Pickaxe Just as fearsome as the Axe in close combat
A Hunting Rifle Good range and stopping power; less handy than the Shotgun, but lets you strike without entering Michael's space
A Cleaver A solid melee compromise: less flashy than the Axe, but reliable and capable of heavy damage up close
B Revolver Reliable and far better than nothing, though it doesn't reach the level of the Shotgun or the Hunting Rifle
B Hatchet Decent in melee, especially without a firearm, but its small size makes it less effective than the Axe
B Kitchen Knife Iconic and perfectly on-theme for Halloween, but its short range means you're taking a risk every time you close in
C Pitchfork Its reach is handy for a melee weapon, but you still remain within Michael's striking range
C Baseball Bat Decent without standing out; worth grabbing if there's nothing else nearby

Melee weapons or firearms?

Firearms (Shotgun, Hunting Rifle, Revolver) excel at keeping Michael at a distance, a major advantage since you can strike without exposing yourself. Melee weapons (Axe, Pickaxe, Cleaver...) require you to get dangerously close, but the best of them make up for it with damage and reliability that make the risk worthwhile.
