GTA Online: $4,000,000 GTA$ in weekly challenges in September 2026 — and the free Penaud La Coureuse must be played before the 23rd
In brief
Rockstar is offering up to 4,000,000 GTA$ in September 2026 through four weekly challenges at 1,000,000 GTA$ each, plus tracksuits and a free Penaud La Coureuse. Heads up: you need to qualify by September 23rd to claim the car between September 24th and 30th.
Rockstar posted on Thursday, September 10, 2026, on the Steam page for Grand Theft Auto V, an announcement titled "Dominez le monde des affaires grâce à l'évènement Rivalités commerciales". The text is written in French by the publisher, not translated after the fact: all the labels quoted here are first-hand official labels. Publication timestamp: 14:12 UTC, i.e. 4:12 PM in Paris — this is our own conversion, Rockstar does not publish any time.
The announcement fits on a single page and yet contains the whole month's plan: four weekly challenges worth 1,000,000 GTA$ each, four tracksuits, one free business property each week, and a free car whose access condition closes on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 — one week before the end of the event. It's this gap that makes the calendar so interesting, and it's also the trap.
The framing is laid out in one sentence: "tempting bonuses for white collars, bikers, arms-trafficking experts, and nightclub owners", over "the next four weeks". The order of these four categories looks like a weekly rotation, but the announcement doesn't state this anywhere: we won't put forward any per-profession bonus schedule.
Four weeks, four challenges, 1,000,000 GTA$ each time
Rockstar's section title sets the tone: "EARN UP TO 4,000,000 GTA$ AND MORE THIS MONTH THANKS TO WEEKLY CHALLENGES". Here are the four windows, with the exact condition as worded by the publisher.
| Week | Window | What Rockstar asks for | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Thursday, September 3 to Wednesday, September 9, 2026 (closed) | "sell special cargo worth a total of 1,000,000 GTA$" | 1,000,000 GTA$ + Yeti x LS Customs tracksuit |
| 2 | Thursday, September 10 to Wednesday, September 16, 2026 | "earn 1,000,000 GTA$ by selling all kinds of goods" | 1,000,000 GTA$ + Junk tracksuit |
| 3 | Thursday, September 17 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026 | "complete three bunker research missions" | 1,000,000 GTA$ + Ammu-Nation camo tracksuit |
| 4 | Thursday, September 24 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026 | "achieving 1,000,000 GTA$ in sales through your businesses" | 1,000,000 GTA$ + Fruit retro tracksuit |
First observation, purely about scheduling: the four windows open on a Thursday and close on a Wednesday. None overlaps with another, none spills over into the following month.
Second observation, about the wording: the three challenges with a numerical target don't ask for the same thing. Week 1 spoke of "special cargo" and a "total value"; week 2 opens the counter to "all kinds of goods" and talks about what you "earn"; week 4 mentions "sales through your businesses". Cargo value versus money actually collected isn't the same thing once fees are deducted — and Rockstar doesn't clarify which one it means. Leave yourself some margin rather than aiming for exactly one million.
Third observation: week 3 is the only one whose counter isn't in GTA$. There, Rockstar asks for a number of missions, "three bunker research missions", and nothing else. No prerequisite, no duration, no amount is stated for that particular challenge.
There remains the multiplier, which deserves a close reading. Rockstar writes: "Throughout September, get rich by earning ten times more than usual when you complete the weekly challenges." The text does not say whether the million displayed each week already includes this tenfold factor or whether it is added on top. The arithmetic leans toward the first hypothesis: four challenges at 1,000,000 GTA$ each add up to exactly the 4,000,000 GTA$ mentioned in the section title. This is our own deduction, not information from the publisher. As for the "and more", it is never spelled out.
The Penaud La Coureuse: act before the 23rd, come back after the 24th
This is the part that is most easily missed, because it plays out in two stages a week apart. Rockstar's sentence, in full: "Complete just one weekly challenge between September 3 and September 23 and return to GTA Online between September 24 and September 30 to claim your free Penaud La Coureuse (sports car) at Legendary Motorsport."

- Qualification, between September 3 and September 23, 2026: completing just one weekly challenge is enough. Rockstar writes "just one challenge," and does not require it to be the one for the current week.
- Collection, between September 24 and September 30, 2026: players must log into GTA Online and go through Legendary Motorsport — the dealership's name stays in English in the publisher's French text.
The practical consequence is twofold. First, the qualification window only covers weeks 1, 2, and 3. Week 4 does not count toward it: completing the challenge between September 24 and 30 will still earn its million and its tracksuit, but will arrive too late for the car. Second, the collection window exactly overlaps with week 4: a player who completes the last challenge will log back in at the right time anyway. The real constraint lies upstream, not downstream.
Since week 1 is already over, there remain two opportunities to qualify: the current challenge, which ends on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and the one running from the 17th to the 23rd. Rockstar publishes no weekly reset time nor any closing time for September 23 — so we will not convert anything, and it is best not to cut it close in the final hour.
A word on the vehicle's name: Rockstar writes "Penaud La Coureuse (sports car)", brand and model combined, with the category in parentheses. This is the official French wording, neither translated nor approximated by us.
What the announcement does not say
The properties given away are not named. The announcement simply states "you'll get a free commercial property each week in September." Four properties, then, but neither their nature, nor their location, nor the steps to claim them. Whatever circulates elsewhere about these four addresses does not come from this text.
No bonus scale is published. No per-activity multiplier, no discount, no percentage on business sales. The announcement promises "extra GTA$ and RP" without ever putting a number on them. The weekly bonus tables circulating among French-speaking outlets do not come from this source, and we will not repeat them.
The link to Rockstar Newswire doesn't help. The announcement ends with "For the full story on the event, check out the Rockstar Newswire", and the link points to an address in /fr/newswire/ whose article name is entirely in English. This Newswire, in practice, cannot be read: the page responds but its content is injected via JavaScript, as verified on Friday, September 11, 2026. The Steam announcement is therefore the most complete version available to a French-speaking reader.
Yet another inconsistency, visible to the naked eye: the visual dressing has remained in English. The official key art displays "BUSINESS RIVALRIES EVENT" and the secondary illustrations carry captions like "BIKER BONUSES", even though all the text is in French. Good luck finding "Rivalités commerciales" in your menus.

Not to be confused with Brand Wars
Business Rivalries is not Brand Wars. The latter is a separate event, announced by Rockstar on Monday, August 17, 2026 under the title "Declare your allegiance. Reveal who dominates Los Santos in Brand Wars". Both revolve around fictional Los Santos brands and hand out branded clothing, but they are two distinct operations.
Another point to set straight: the GTA+ cycle whose claim order we had detailed ran until Wednesday, September 9, 2026. It is now closed. The September 10 announcement mentions no new cycle, and reserves nothing for subscribers: the challenges, the tracksuits and the car are described with no subscription requirement.
In practice
- Qualify first, optimize later. The priority is to complete one weekly challenge before Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Until that box is checked, everything else is secondary.
- Choose the least costly week. Of the two challenges remaining, the one running September 17 to 23 is the only one that does not require a revenue target.
- Don't play solo if you lack the infrastructure. Rockstar highlights "plenty of opportunities to team up with well-connected friends as a partner or bodyguard to share in their success... or team up to sabotage your rivals' businesses". For anyone without a business to run, this is the entry point the publisher itself points to.
A player discovering the event now has missed out on the first million; they can still grab three more, plus the car, provided they don't confuse the date that closes qualification with the one that closes the event.
