Turok

The world of Turok was born from the pages of the comic book produced by Dell Comics starting in 1954, in which a Native American warrior wandered through a lost prehistoric world. The appointment with the video game world came in 1997 with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter on Nintendo 64, developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim. The game caused a sensation: accomplished graphics for the time, fast-paced gunplay, and dinosaurs as the main enemy, an unprecedented combination that gave the game immediate critical and commercial success.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (1998) drove the point home with an expanded arsenal and more ambitious levels before Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion (2000) closed out the N64 trilogy. The franchise exceeded $250 million in cumulative revenue in 2002, and became a reference for FPS games on the 32/64-bit generation.

After a rough patch, Propaganda Games (Disney) attempted a reboot simply named Turok in 2008 on Xbox 360 and PS3, refocused around military survival alongside dinosaurs, but without success. It was in December 2024 that Saber Interactive relaunched the license at the Game Awards with the announcement of Turok: Origins, which will be the sixth main installment, an online co-op TPS scheduled for fall 2026. A new standalone episode, requiring no knowledge of previous installments, but which reopens a universe orphaned for eighteen years now.
