Forza Horizon 6: the save bug finally seems fixed
In brief
Playground Games has finally fixed the nightmare save-loss bug that has plagued Forza Horizon 6 since launch. A combined fix — an Xbox Series X|S system update and a Gaming Services patch on PC — eliminates the most frequent corruption scenarios and automatically restores the latest cloud save if something goes wrong.
Two combined points of attack: a Xbox Series X|S system update and a fix on the game side. That's what it took Playground Games to get the better of the save loss bug that had been plaguing Forza Horizon 6 since launch.
What actually changes
On PC, the patch went out via Gaming Services - recommended minimum version: 37.114.10001.0. On Xbox Series X|S, it's a separate console system update, rolled out starting June 12, that tackles the most common corruption scenarios. The two fixes work together: one reduces the likelihood of corruption, the other secures the system layer.
If something still goes wrong, the game now displays a message on next launch to restore the most recent cloud save. At worst, you lose one session, but no longer the entire campaign.

The causes identified by the community
On r/ForzaHorizon, players agree on two main culprits: Quick Resume and unstable connections during cloud sync. The official guidelines point in the same direction - disable Quick Resume on Series X|S, wait for cloud sync to finish before turning off the console, and never quit the game while the save icon is visible.
If you've already lost progress, open a ticket with Forza support without starting a new game - that's the condition for the team to be able to review your case.
