WARDOGS: the best graphics settings for a smooth and responsive image

Follow us on

In brief

WARDOGS is in Early Access and deserves proper graphics settings to run smoothly. Here's the reference configuration tested on a mid-range machine, with settings designed mainly for modest PCs — but adjustable if your setup exceeds the recommended specs.

WARDOGS is now available in early access, and it's best to adjust your graphics settings to get the best possible rendering. The game already runs better than during the previous beta, but a few tweaks are still necessary. Here's the recommended setup, designed primarily to support lower-end machines.

Reference configuration

The settings below were tested on this setup: 32GB DDR4 RAM, AMD Radeon 9060XT 16GB graphics card, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor.

If your PC is close to or above the recommended specs, you'll only need to change a few settings. Conversely, systems close to the minimum requirements will need to push the adjustments further.

The best settings

Setting Recommended setting
Field of view (FOV) 95 - push it as high as possible (frequent long-range shots)
Weapon model scale 4 works well; lower it to better see the enemy
First person FOV - Vehicles Default
Third person FOV - Vehicles Default
ADS FOV Affected
PIP scope Disabled
Frame rate limit 90 FPS (60 if you experience lag; above 90 on a powerful PC, without exceeding your monitor's native refresh rate)
VSync Enabled (recommended for an FPS)
Nvidia Reflex Enabled
Anti-aliasing method DLSS/FSR (prefer Performance)
Mesh detail Medium (little impact on performance)
Draw distance Medium
Shading Low
Global illumination Disabled
Shadows Low
Reflections Low
Effects Medium
Particle spawn rate Low
Post-processing Low
Motion blur Disabled
Depth of field Disabled
Lens flare Disabled
Bloom Disabled
Textures Low
Character Low
Effects Low
Texture streaming Low
Texture filtering Low

Our advice

For the last five settings (Textures, Character, Effects, Texture streaming, Texture filtering), we set everything to Low. However, you can test them on Medium to see if any stuttering appears. Keep in mind that perfectly smooth gameplay significantly increases your chances of success - and those of your team.

Frequently asked questions

Is 90 FPS really the bare minimum?
No. If you're lagging, drop to 60. But above 90, go higher without hesitation if your PC can handle it — just don't exceed your monitor's native refresh rate. Responsive FPS changes everything in competitive play.
Should I use DLSS or FSR?
Both work. Prioritize Performance mode over Quality: you gain FPS and the visual difference is minor in-game. Smoothness comes first here.
Why disable motion blur and depth of field?
They drain resources for zero FPS benefit. Depth of field muddles your view when aiming, and motion blur makes fast movements less sharp. Leave them off.
Can I set Textures, Character, and Effects to Medium without issues?
Yes, test it. On a solid config, Medium often causes no stuttering. If slowdowns appear, drop back to Low. The key: stable, consistent smoothness.
Global Illumination on Low or disabled?
Disabled in the reference config. It takes a heavy toll on performance for a subtle visual gain in-game — leave it off unless you have a powerhouse machine.

Key takeaways

  • Set FOV to 95 minimum, increase it further if you often shoot at long range.
  • Enable VSync and Nvidia Reflex: two details that make a difference in competitive FPS.
  • Set the last five settings (Textures, Character, Effects, Streaming, Filtering) to Low, but test Medium to see if you can tolerate stuttering.
  • Perfect fluidity helps your team as much as it helps you — it's gameplay, not just aesthetics.
