Diablo 4: the 3 cosmetics from BlizzCon 2026 Twitch Drops — 6 hours of viewing within a 72-hour window

In brief

Three Diablo IV ornaments are being distributed for free via Twitch drops from September 12-15, 2026, accessible after six cumulative hours of watching in the Diablo IV category only. The essentials: link your Battle.net and Twitch accounts before Saturday, then watch on PC, Mac, or mobile app — consoles and inactive tabs don't count.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Blizzard published its French guide "Your guide to everything Diablo at BlizzCon 2026." Tucked into the panel schedule is a short-window promotion: three Diablo IV cosmetics distributed via Twitch drops, in a window that opens on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 7 p.m. and closes on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 6:59 p.m. That's 72 hours minus one minute to grab everything.

The times above are Blizzard's own, doubling every announcement with a Pacific time and a CEST time. France stays on CEST until October 25, so the CEST times on the page translate directly to Paris times, and we haven't converted anything ourselves. We did, however, check the publisher's conversions, all correct, a nine-hour gap from one end of the page to the other — 10 a.m. (PT) does indeed give 7 p.m. (CEST).

No purchase is required. Blizzard's FAQ is clear: "No, you do not need to own an edition of Diablo IV or Lord of Hatred to get these Twitch drops."

The three cosmetics, and what they cost in hours

The scale is linear: "Every 2 hours of viewing will earn you the following cosmetics." Three tiers, three weapons, six cumulative hours for the full collection.

TierCumulative viewingWeaponOfficial French labelEnglish label
12 hoursDagger"Couteau dentelé"Serrated Skean
24 hoursAxe"Fendoir rouillé"Corroded Cleaver
36 hoursTwo-Handed Mace"Tintinnabulement"Tintinnabulation

The French labels come from Blizzard's fr-fr page, which is a genuine French version and not an English page under a translated header; we copy them here as-is. A note for anyone following an English-language stream: English pairs the weapon type with the name ("Serrated Skean Dagger," "Corroded Cleaver Axe," "Tintinnabulation Two-Handed Mace") whereas French places it before, and Corroded becomes "rouillé" (rusted), not "corrodé." It's indeed the same item.

The third tier lives up to its name: the mace's head is a cracked bell bristling with spikes. Beyond that, Blizzard says nothing about these items — no rarity, no eligible classes, no delivery time after claiming. The page stops at the name and the image.

Two windows, and a third deadline

This is where mistakes happen fastest: the two promotions start at the same minute and end eleven days apart. The chat badge, presented by Blizzard as "our very first event chat badge," is not a drop — it's obtained by paying.

The third deadline is the trickiest one, because it kicks in after the fact: "Twitch Drops rewards you have earned will expire 7 days after being claimed if no Battle.net account has been linked to your Twitch account." In other words, a drop claimed without a prior account link isn't lost right away, but it self-destructs a week later. That's exactly the scenario of the viewer who clicks the notification and puts off the rest for later.

The procedure, in order, and before the weekend

  1. Link the accounts first. Blizzard points to the account connections page: "Log in to your Battle.net account here, then click the Connect button corresponding to Twitch." The address is account.battle.net/connections, and it was responding on Friday, September 11, 2026. This is the only step to take in advance.
  2. Watch in the Diablo IV category, on a PC or Mac browser, or in the Twitch Android or iOS app.
  3. Claim the drop. It doesn't arrive on its own: "You must claim the drop on the channel you are watching or in the Inventory tab of the Drops & Rewards menu on Twitch." The inventory is at twitch.tv/drops/inventory.

Four pitfalls in the viewing conditions

Living room apps don't count. It's written in black and white: "Twitch apps on game consoles, connected TVs, and other TV applications are not compatible with drops." Watching BlizzCon on your console's Twitch app means six hours for nothing.

Neither does a second screen. "Streams running in the background or on inactive tabs in your browser will not be counted." And stacking windows doesn't help either: "You cannot progress faster by watching several channels at once." On the other hand, channel-hopping is allowed and the counter doesn't reset to zero when switching from one channel to another.

The category takes precedence over the channel. Blizzard writes "any broadcast in the Diablo IV category," not "any Diablo stream." A Diablo Immortal or Diablo II: Resurrected broadcast qualifies for the badge if you subscribe, but it doesn't advance the drops. The distinction is not merely theoretical: a footnote specifies that Diablo II streamers "will broadcast Diablo IV from the main Diablo space on the channel, and Diablo II from the Classic Arcade space." These channels will therefore switch from one category to the other during the weekend, and the page doesn't say when.

YouTube gives nothing. Blizzard announces two official broadcasts, "Youtube.com/Diablo" and "Twitch.tv/Diablo," but the drops section only talks about Twitch categories and the FAQ only about the Twitch browser and app. No YouTube drop is mentioned, either in French or in English. Nor does the publisher indicate anywhere which category its own channels are broadcasting in.

The Diablo schedule, corrected to the actual times

Blizzard lists two "Day+1" panels without dating them. Here are the actual time slots, Paris time.

Date and time (Paris)PanelStage

Blizzard has not published the duration of any of these panels: there's no way to know how many hours of official programming count toward the tiers. The six hours will therefore have to come from creators' channels. The publisher lists nine for Diablo IV — Rhykker, Wudijo, Rob2628, DatModz, Cliptis, Aaron Action RPG, MacrobioBoi, AnnacakeLIVE and Slaydra — noting that "this list only shows some" of the participants.

A fourth announced item the article doesn't detail

A detail worth watching: the page's summary — the one shown in shares and search engines — promises "three BlizzCon Twitch drops, a first-ever Twitch chat badge, as well as a new season-themed Twitch cosmetic." The French version says the same thing, "un nouvel ornement Twitch aux couleurs de la saison." Yet the body of the article never mentions this fourth item, in either language. Either the summary is referring to the three cosmetics in a different way, or it remains an announcement yet to come; Blizzard doesn't clarify, and we won't guess.

In practice

The useful step happens before the opening: linking Battle.net and Twitch. It takes a minute and it neutralizes the one condition that can destroy an already-earned reward.

After that, the math is simple. Two hours are enough for the dagger, and Saturday evening's session already covers part of that. Six hours within a 72-hour window remain doable, provided you're actually watching: active tab, Diablo IV category. That's the real constraint, far more than the duration itself. And if you were planning to run the stream in the background on the living room TV, switch devices.

Will you hunt for the three ornaments during BlizzCon 2026?

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to own Diablo IV to claim the drops?
No, zero purchase requirement. The three ornaments are free and accessible even without any edition of the game or expansion.
What kills a drop after it appears?
If your Twitch account isn't linked to Battle.net when you claim the drop, you have seven days to do so before the reward self-destructs. Linking one minute before September 12 eliminates this risk.
Does watching from YouTube count toward the hours?
No. Blizzard streams on both YouTube and Twitch, but drops only concern Twitch. YouTube generates zero valid hours, even in official live broadcasts.
Do inactive browser tabs advance the counter?
No, Twitch only counts active tabs. Stacking windows or watching in the background doesn't boost it either — only one stream in focus at a time.
What happens if I watch Diablo II or Immortal during BlizzCon?
It doesn't count toward the three ornaments. Only the Diablo IV category validates hours, even if streamers switch between categories during the weekend.

Key takeaways

  • Link Battle.net and Twitch before September 12, otherwise drops self-destruct after 7 days.
  • Only the Diablo IV category counts for the three ornaments, not Diablo Immortal or II streams even during BlizzCon.
  • Six cumulative hours are enough: 2 hours for the Serrated Knife, 4 for the Rusty Cleaver, 6 for the Tintinnabulation.
  • Console apps, connected TVs, and inactive browser tabs give nothing — you need active viewing on PC, Mac, or mobile app.
  • The Twitch chat badge, meanwhile, remains paid and runs until September 26, unlike the free drops which close on the 15th.
