Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves is unique in that it's an action RPG, an open-world action RPG with a rich and elaborate story, developed by Kuro Games. The player takes on the role of Rover, a character awakening after a long slumber, in a world particularly devastated by a cataclysm called the Lament. The adventure unfolds across a large open area, free to explore, in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere where Rover will be accompanied by a varied cast of Resonators with elemental abilities.

The gameplay revolves around a dynamic, fluid combat system inspired by some of the best action RPGs on the market, such as Genshin Impact. The Resonators in the player's team, along with the player themselves, can use skills tied to elements (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, etc.) via Echo Skills or devastating bursts. Version 3.2 thus adds new characters and a 5-star character, Sigrika, centered on resource management in order to overwhelm the opponent with waves of damage through her Echo Skills (the new banners Qiuyuan, Phoebe, Lynae, Zani). It also introduces a new weekly boss, the Voidworm, and offers better Echo management, replacing a previous, more complex and error-prone approach. Various QoL improvements will make farming easier as well as optimizing character teams.

In a post-Lament universe, the narrative is greatly expanded, driving the entirety of the main quests (MSQ) as well as the scope of exploration in areas (e.g., Lahai Roi) and special events. Version 3.2 goes as far as introducing a permanent three-dimensional rhythm mode similar to Muse Dash (chibi character and all) as well as a new Fusion elemental Rover (with Electro to follow), all while displaying finer graphics settings (independent of console requirements) that contribute to the immersive experience. On mobile, PC, and home consoles, the freedom, the rich combat content found in the relentless pace of the promised progression where regular updates fit in continue to make a game shine today.
