Deponia

A German point-and-click released in 2012, Deponia takes place on a planet turned into an open-air garbage dump. You play as Rufus, a failed inventor, self-centered and frankly insufferable, obsessed with a single idea: leaving this pile of trash to reach Elysium, the flying city reserved for the wealthy. His encounter with Goal, an Elysium resident who fell from the sky, drives an adventure that piles up disasters caused by the hero himself.

Daedalic delivers here what it does best: hand-drawn backgrounds, classic but clear puzzles, and absurd humor that largely relies on the protagonist's deliberate unlikability. The game opens a tetralogy and benefits from a complete French localization, dubbing included — a rarity in the genre. A good entry point for anyone discovering modern graphic adventures.
