In brief

POSTAL 2 Redux is aiming for spring 2027 after a monster Kickstarter that blew past expectations in September 2026. The full remake under Unity 6 is coming to PS5, PS4, PC via Steam with VR support, and Meta Quest, but the Steam page still shows "To be determined" and ignores the official announcement.

POSTAL 2 came out in 2003 and remains, more than twenty years later, Running With Scissors' most played title. Its remake finally has a window: spring 2027, posted recently on its official page, following a press release issued on August 21, 2026. The FAQ on the same site, however, still reads "Targeting 2026", never corrected.

Impact Inked, the publishing arm of Impact Reality, is publishing; Team Beef and Flat2VR Studios are developing alongside Running With Scissors. This is no mere port: everything is rebuilt in Unity 6, with a streamed open world, revamped NPCs, reworked combat and physics, and the return of Champ the dog. The press release announces PS5 with PS VR2 support, PS4, and PC via Steam with VR and Meta Quest, with other platforms to follow. The studio's page adds Mac, Linux, then Xbox Series and Switch versions "pending approval".

The standout fact here isn't the remake, it's its funding. Launched on August 12, 2025, the Kickstarter blew past its goal in a single day, then closed on September 13 with $679,673 raised from 6,130 backers, against a $250,000 target. A niche license, a handful of developers, a community that never scattered.

Two caveats: the Steam page still reads "To be determined", and the estimated delivery for Kickstarter tiers has remained set at December 2026.

Where do you stand with POSTAL 2 Redux?

Key takeaways

  • The Kickstarter exploded: $679,673 in one month for a $250,000 goal, backed by 6,130 contributors who believed in the project.
  • It's a complete reconstruction, not a port: streamed world, revamped NPCs, rebalanced physics and combat, everything redone under Unity 6.
  • Steam is dragging its feet: the platform still shows "To be determined" while the official date is spring 2027.
  • Champ the dog is back, Switch and Xbox Series versions are "pending approval", and VR is part of the package.
  • The studio's FAQ still reads "Targeting 2026", untouched for months, which is creating confusion among backers.
