Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Released in October 2018, Assassin's Creed Odyssey propels the franchise into ancient Greece of 431 BC, at the heart of the Peloponnesian War. You play as Alexios or Kassandra, a mercenary descended from King Leonidas, launched on a family quest that quickly leads to large-scale conspiracies and secret organizations pulling the strings in the shadows.

Ubisoft pushes the RPG dial all the way here: a massive skill tree, customizable equipment, dialogue choices that genuinely impact the course and ending of the story. Naval battles also make a comeback, adding a welcome layer of variety. The open world is colossal - including the Aegean Sea - and Greek mythology weaves into the combat through creatures you won't encounter anywhere else in the series.

On the reception side, the press praised the ambition, but the community remains divided: some love the RPG density, while others prefer more surgical entries like AC II or Black Flag.
