Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has become, within a few years, a modern pop culture Japanese franchise cult classic, to the point of establishing itself even in video games. Born from Koyoharu Gotouge's manga, the phenomenon literally exploded on an international scale with the animation first produced for television by ufotable, then with the colossal success of the Mugen Train film, which gave the brand its true momentum. In games, the franchise has frequently been showcased first through The Hinokami Chronicles, a fighting game both accessible and spectacular, before returning with Hinokami Chronicles 2, which further highlights the story's narrative arcs and further aligns the series with the world of consoles and PC.
The universe is set in a Taishō-era Japan, where family drama, fantasy and supernatural clashes intertwine. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a member of the demon slayers, on his adventure to save his sister Nezuko and eliminate the threat looming over them, that of Muzan Kibutsuji. The franchise's success stems as much from its visual identity as from its choreographed fights, a principle more than compatible with video game adaptation.
