Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate is one of the sagas that has weighed most heavily on Western role-playing games. Born at BioWare in the late 1990s, it expanded the possibilities of a genre still in its infancy, with gameplay inspired by Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), tactical real-time combat, very rich writing, and a beautifully vivid fantasy world. The first two episodes thus marked their era through the freedom given to the player's creativity, the number and writing of the companions, and an art direction that has since become a model.
After a long absence, the franchise returns with Baldur's Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, which has brought back the general public's interest in the world of the Forgotten Realms, with critical and commercial acclaim, and a very active update policy.
