Santa Monica Studio is an American video game development studio owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, located in California. Founded in 1999, the studio has become over the years one of PlayStation's emblematic studios. The studio is known worldwide for its "God of War" franchise, whose last two installments, "God of War" (2018) and "God of War Ragnarök" (2022), have evolved the standards of the action/adventure genre. These games notably won numerous prestigious awards thanks to their art direction and mature storytelling, including the award for innovative gameplay at the Game Awards. Santa Monica Studio is the very embodiment of PlayStation's creativity.
