Valve Corporation
About
An American video game development and publishing company founded in 1996 by Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington, Valve Corporation, based in Bellevue (Washington State, United States), has risen to become one of the most important and influential in the video game industry. Valve has brought to life legendary franchises that have quite simply revolutionized video games, starting with "Half-Life" (1998), which overturned the narrative FPS. Later, "Portal" (2007) stood out for its innovative puzzle-type gameplay. Finally, "Counter-Strike", initially a mod that became a global phenomenon, is an essential reference in esports. Besides development, Valve is also Steam, the largest digital distribution platform for PC games, and the developer of engines such as Source Engine. Valve continues to surprise with projects such as the Steam Deck, and soon (or maybe not) the Steam Machine.
