About
Founded in 1960, the Japanese video game company SEGA is based in Tokyo. It once manufactured some of the legendary consoles that defined the industry's golden age: the Mega Drive and the Dreamcast, to name but a few, and has since reinvented itself as a multiplatform game publisher and developer.
Its iconic franchises include, among others, "Sonic the Hedgehog" (1991), its emblematic mascot and the iconic platform game that made its success and reputation, "Yakuza" (since renamed "Like a Dragon"), an action/adventure saga set in the world of Japanese organised crime, and "Total War", the famous strategy game saga.
SEGA also holds flagship licences such as the "Persona" saga, the "Phantasy Star" series or "Football Manager", to name but a few. The company keeps trying to innovate while paying tribute to its impressive video game heritage.
