James Bond 007

The James Bond 007 franchise has followed the growing popularity of the secret agent created by Ian Fleming since the 1980s. It initially only offered fairly loose adaptations of the films, then became a benchmark with GoldenEye 007 on Nintendo 64 in 1997, a platform on which it had managed to evolve not only in level design finesse, but especially in four-player split-screen multiplayer with a translation of stealth to the analog stick. Other standout entries such as 007: Nightfire or Everything or Nothing then appeared, combining action, gadgets, and stunts, all wrapped in a very Hollywood-style presentation.

After a period of waning interest, the franchise is now making a comeback with the project from IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series. First known under the code name Project 007, the game will ultimately be titled 007 First Light, an origin story in which players take on the role of a 26-year-old James Bond still in training at MI6, awaiting his famous "licence to kill".
