Maxis is a video game development studio founded in 1987 by Will Wright and Jeff Braun, which became a subsidiary of Electronic Arts (EA) in 1997. The Californian studio, located in Redwood City, became famous for its simulation games encouraging players' creativity.

Their first known creation is "SimCity" (1989), the city-building game that originated the genre, "The Sims" (2000), the life simulator that became one of the biggest franchises worldwide in video game history with more than 25 years of existence, and "Spore" (2008), which lets you guide the evolution of a species starting from a microscopic organism, all the way to space exploration.
