Established in 2004 in Kiev, Ukraine, 4A Games managed to secure a prime spot in the world of post-apocalyptic FPS with the Metro series. The studio burst onto the scene with the adaptation of Dmitry Glukhovsky's cult novel: Metro 2033 (2010), followed by Metro: Last Light (2013) then the bolder, open-world Metro Exodus (2019).
Despite the immense difficulties caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine since 2022, the team has worked hard to refine its in-house engine for immersive and terrifying visuals. Metro 2039, which was revealed in 2026, returns to the dark tunnels of Moscow, with a protagonist gnawed by his past, tormented by nightmares, and an emphasis on moral choices with heavy consequences. An unforgettable episode in the making?
