Founded in September 1991 in Gifu, Japan, Nippon Ichi Software is a Japanese video game development and publishing company. It is best known for its tactical role-playing games (SRPG), with a unique visual design that was in 2D for a long time, but has recently turned towards 3D.

Nippon Ichi Software is especially famous for the "Disgaea" series, whose first installment, "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness", was released in 2003 on PS2, but also "Phantom Brave" (2004), an original tactical SRPG, and "La Pucelle: Tactics" (2002).
