Founded in October 1998 in Fukuoka by Akihiro Hino, Level-5 is a Japanese video game development studio whose reputation was built mainly on RPGs and narrative-driven games, particularly on Nintendo and PlayStation consoles.
Level-5 has developed famous franchises such as "Professor Layton", a puzzle game series with over 17 million sales, "Yo-kai Watch", a cultural phenomenon in Japan comparable to "Pokémon", and "Ni no Kuni", a role-playing game developed in partnership with Studio Ghibli.
Around 300 people work at the studio, which, in addition to continuing to develop games, is increasingly interested in animation and merchandising around its licences.
