Mewgenics

Mewgenics combines two ideas that had no reason to meet: a cat-breeding sim based on genetics, and a turn-based tactics game where the army you send into battle is exactly the one you bred. Each litter inherits traits, mutations and flaws, and a well-managed bloodline is worth more than a rare item.

The game is by Edmund McMillen, creator of Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, working alongside programmer Tyler Glaiel. Announced as early as 2012, shelved, then revived, it finally released on February 10, 2026 on PC, with no third-party publisher. Critics gave it an 88 on Metacritic and Steam lists it as translated into French. A console version has been confirmed by its creators, with no official date so far.
