Ratchet & Clank is an action-platformer franchise born in 2002 on PlayStation 2, created by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. From its beginnings, the series established itself as one of the most inventive in the genre thanks to an endearing duo - a mechanic Lombax and his robot companion - and an arsenal of absurd weapons that remains its absolute trademark.

The founding PS2 episodes (Ratchet & Clank, Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal) set the tone: offbeat humor, generous level design, gunplay as creative as it is enjoyable. The saga then conquered PS3 with the Future trilogy, before treating itself to a reboot in 2016 accompanied by an animated film. The recent masterstroke remains Rift Apart (2021, PS5), a technical showcase for the new generation console, praised for its art direction and the introduction of a new Lombax, Rivet.

Over more than two decades, Ratchet & Clank has sold tens of millions of copies, durably influencing 3D platformers and helping to define PlayStation's identity on Sony consoles. The franchise has remained exclusively console-based until now - Ranger Rumble thus marks its first real step onto mobile, uncharted territory for Insomniac Games and Oh BiBi.
